BACK PAIN DUE TO FACET JOINT ARTHROPATHY Facet joints are pair of joints between two vertebrae located posteriorly. Alongwith intervertebral disc it forms a functional spine unit. When disc degenerates, facet joints are loaded increasingly which causes arthritis. This causes back pain while sitting, standing and turning. Sometimes due to hypertrophy of facets nerve roots are compressed causing sciatica.
